We offer guided foodie tours in and around Merano – by e-bike or on foot. Explore the region, meet the locals, and discover real craftsmanship far beyond the postcard clichés. For us, it’s all about slowing down and keeping things authentic. In small groups, we meet inspiring hosts and makers, get a behind-the-scenes look at their work, and hear their stories firsthand. We love sharing the hidden gems of our homeland with you – while also talking openly about its rough edges and contradictions.

JEvery week, there are at least two gourmet e-bike tours on the program.
Our classic, the Gourmet Bike Merano Tour, is already running into its 10th season. Over 2,000 satisfied guests are our calling card. Partner businesses like the Buschenschank Schnalshuber Hof and the independent winemaker Biedermann Hof have been part of the team since the very first ride. The route hasn’t lost any of its appeal. We meet authentic hosts, enjoy a refined lunch, and as always, end the tour with an aperitif.
New this year is the Gourmet Bike Tour “The Sleeping Giant.” This e-bike tour around Merano gives new partner locations a face, shares fresh stories and tastings, and leads to places most regular tourists (still) don’t look at. The final stop at the horse racing track takes us into a space between history and future: Merano’s giant, because it carries the city’s pride and heritage within it, but “sleeping” because its scale and splendour often remain hidden behind closed gates in everyday life. Truly a sleeping giant.
The Gourmet Bike Passeier Tour takes us to slightly higher altitudes. Without effort, as we use the cable car, we reach alpine air but stay comfortably on paved roads. We meet people on mountain farms, enjoy traditional farmhouse specialties, and on the way down we simply need balance and a light touch on the brakes. It doesn’t get more scenic or relaxed than this.
Every week, we offer two guided gourmet walks.
As with all our Gourmet Walks, the focus is on showing guests culinary highlights in the city. These half-day tours are relaxed and varied, featuring 4 to 5 stops where it’s not just about tasting, but about discovering. We always highlight what makes each place special and stay in direct exchange with the hosts.
The Gourmet Walk Merano takes place every Friday morning. It’s a lively mix of specialties from both local shops and gastronomy, blending Alpine and Mediterranean cuisine. We visit simple traditional trattorias, but also meet star chefs in person. We taste homemade products, learn about the differences in speck, open the door to the world of balsamic vinegar, and make sure no one’s throat stays dry along the way.
The Gourmet Walk Merano Aperitivo combines a gourmet walk with a classic aperitivo experience on Friday afternoon. This means not only four different aperitifs with matching bites, but also special insights into local gastronomy. The experience is rounded off with insider tips and the fact that some stops are still true hidden gems.
The Gourmet Walk Merano Private is a half-day tour for couples or small groups who want to decide on timing and content themselves. Gerd, our Merano-based nutrition scientist and food technologist, leads the tour and shows where to find the city’s culinary highlights. Of course, there is plenty of tasting, direct conversations with hosts, and the occasional real “aha moment.”
Secret Spots Merano is designed both for couples who already know each other well and for families with kids.
Secret Tastes Merano is our gourmet walk for couples who want to discover the city’s culinary treasures in peace and quiet, just for themselves. Along the way, they explore hidden corners and exclusive flavours, solve small riddles, hear local stories and anecdotes, and find secret places where carefully curated delicacies are enjoyed. Everything at their own pace. Merano just for the two of you – away from the crowds, right in the heart of indulgence.
Food Detectives Merano was created especially for families with curious kids. As we are a family with many children ourselves, we wanted to keep the cost fair and accessible. That’s why only the children pay – parents join as accompanying adults for free. The little detectives can also choose day and time freely and even play over several days, which makes it perfect for moments when the weather isn’t ideal. And of course, there’s a reward waiting at the end.
Cooking Class Merano is our cooperation with the Taste Academy Merano. The cooking school for private guests and food enthusiasts has been running since 2023. A family with Calabrian roots does everything by hand – from bread and baked goods like taralli and grissini, to classic specialties such as panettone, colomba, and pan brioche. Alongside these, you’ll find sweet and savoury spreads and, of course, a carefully selected range of dishes for lunch or dinner. With Miki and his family, you simply feel at home.
“Cooking Class” here means rolling up your sleeves and making fresh pasta from scratch while learning different techniques. We also prepare some of the sauces ourselves (though not the ragù, as it simply needs more than three hours to do it justice). Of course, we pick up more Italian cooking tricks along the way, discover what truly “real” olive oil tastes like, and in the end we sit down together to enjoy our creations with a good glass of wine.
Each tour includes 4 to 5 stops, where you’ll taste, eat, drink, and hear stories along the way. Our guides don’t just know the region and its people – they accompany you in a calm and relaxed way and are happy to answer your questions until there are no more left to ask.
